Paying tribute to ’70s New York, Michael Kors released not only glamorous floral and sequinned day dresses and sexy tailoring, but also a Studio 54 capsule of more disco-appropriate clothes and accessories bearing the iconic nightclub’s logo. (Oh, and Barry Manilow helped closed the show with Copacabana.)
Halpern never drifts far from ’70s-infl ected, full-on glitter glam (his mother was reportedly a Studio 54 regular). This season, he fi lters his aesthetic through the lens of the Art Deco designer Erte, resulting in languid, sequinned or graphically patterned dresses and jumpsuits that are among his most womanly pieces yet.
Anthony Vaccarello’s F/W ’19 collection for Saint Laurent comes in three parts: darkly glamorous tailoring inspired by Betty Catroux, lavishly embellished micro shorts and dresses rooted in the brand’s 1971 Scandal collection, and a series of ’80s party dresses that glow highlighter hues in the dark. All would kill it on the dance floor.
Kate Spade New York’s jewel-toned boho silk dresses and velvet flared pantsuits – complete with turbans – would get Bianca Jagger’s nod of approval.
