#1 Rampant Rufflin'

Whether cascading down the neck or curling from the hips, ruffles add a feminine flair to a look and frame the body with playful power.

They’ve been swishing down this season’s runways in unusual fabrications – embroidered black leather at Alexander McQueen and frayed linen at Erdem, though Dolce & Gabbana kept them romantically innocent with floral prints. Forget accessories, this season, it’s all about the waves.

#2 Plait Perfect

Cara and Gigi have been rocking it, so that only means one thing: the parting plait is the new go-to hairstyle. Simply comb back a large section of your hair where your parting is, part it with the tail of a comb then plait the strands backwards. Secure the end with a cute ponytail or some bobby pins as a finishing touch.

#3 Be B5autiful

You should get your fair share of vitamins, and one of the easiest to add to your diet is vitamin B5, which can be found in beef, poultry, eggs and dairy products. It not only moisturises your skin, but also speeds up repair. Vitamin B5 can do wonders when applied on top of your skin too, and you can do that with LipHop’s Vita B5 Skin Hydrating Facial Mask. Enriched with hydrating vitamin B5 and trehalose, it helps to moisturise your skin, leaving it soft and smooth.

#4 SPACING OUT

It made it onto our nails, and it was only a matter of time before the negative space trend found its way to our lips. LA-based makeup artist Vlada Haggerty has been using the artistic effect to produce fun and futuristic designs on lips, and while there aren’t any tutorials yet, stenciling and precise hand movements are your best bet if you want to give it a go.

#5 Dov-ing into Business

Singapore’s fash cred is set to go through the roof with the iconic Dover Street Market dropping anchor at Tanglin Village at Dempsey later this year. A collaboration between COMO Lifestyle and Rei Kawakubo, it will be the brand’s fourth global outlet following those in London, New York and Tokyo. In the meantime, you can check out the web store at shop.doverstreetmarket.com/sg.

#6 iPlates

Digital dining has taken on a new meaning at the San Francisco-based, three-Michelin-starred restaurant Quince, which has been using iPads as plates. One of the dishes that’s plated on the device is A Dog in Search of Gold, so-named because it features white truffle croquettes atop an iPad playing a video of dogs hunting for truffles. Quite an iDea they’ve got there.

#7 Cone Zone

Why sip from a boring ol’ cup when you can do so from a yummy waffle cone? Created by Dayne Levinrad, owner of The Grind Coffee Company in Johannesburg, #CoffeeInACone has become a thing. The only catch? You’ll have to drink it (and snap that pic) within 10 minutes before the thick inner layer of chocolate starts to melt.

#8 RANGER POWER

What do red, pink, yellow, blue and black bring to mind? It should be Power Rangers, which is showing in cinemas this month. The first film of the much-loved franchise to emerge in the 21st century, it revolves around the new Power Rangers’ fight against the villainous Rita Repulsa. Not that you’ll need an extra reason to catch it, but Breaking Bad’s Bryan Cranston stars as the former Red Ranger.

#9 Min Ah, So Perfect

The K-Celeb of the moment is Shin Min Ah, who plays Song Ma Rin in the time-travel drama Tomorrow With You. The popular actress is certainly easy on the eyes, but what’s been getting fans most excited is her relationship with heartthrob Kim Woo Bin. Envious? Don’t be. She once said in an interview that her secret to happiness is finding it in the littlest of things, so do likewise to be as blissful.

#11 Limpeh Says...

The local edition of cult card game Cards Against Humanity was initially designed by Tan Yong Heng for a school project. It received such an overwhelming response that he decided to make it available for sale. In December last year, the “morally wrong but politically right” game reached its Kickstarter target of $20,000 in just 90 minutes and, at press time, has gone well over the $100,000 mark!

#12 NAPFLIX and CHILL
Can’t sleep? Time to get on Napflix, otherwise known as Netflix for people who need to catch some shuteye, pronto. The free streaming service is specially designed to bore people into slumber, so content is largely “silent and sleepy”. Clips include a fireplace crackling away for two hours and a juicer in action. Bizarre? Yes, but if it works, it works.
