Acne can be tough to deal with, especially if you have sensitive skin. To test the effectiveness of their products, dermatologist recommended skincare brand Eucerin got real girls who’ve been battling acne for years to take part in the Eucerin 30-day challenge, where they used skincare products from Eucerin’s DermoPURIFYER range for a month and tracked their progress. Here are the results.

One reason why you’re breaking out might be because you’re not removing your makeup properly. This cleansing water not only removes makeup and impurities, but also doubles as a toner. Participants in the challenge liked how it didn’t dry out their skin, yet didn’t feel greasy either.

To prevent acne from recurring, you need a skincare product with anti-bacterial properties. Formulated with lactic acid, this fast-absorbing serum dissolves thick layers of dead skin and buildup. It also regulates skin functions and improves the flow of oil, helping to keep breakouts at bay. Participants in the challenge reported a visible reduction in the amount of pimples they had after using this serum.
“I really like the texture of Eucerin DermoPURIFYER Active Concentrate. It’s lightweight and doesn’t feel sticky. I could barely feel it on my skin.” - Melissa

Acne-ridden skin is also often sensitive, so you’ll need a cleanser that is effective yet gentle. This soap-free facial wash gently removes excess oil from your face and reduces bacterial growth, preventing breakouts. This cleansing gel got a nod of approval from 96 percent of people who did the Eucerin 30-day Challenge.
“My skin is very sensitive, so it tends to turn red very easily, especially when I’m trying new products. To my surprise, Eucerin DermoPURIFYER Cleanser Dr Mark Tang, Consultant Dermatologist, The Skin Specialists and Laser Clinic, Mt Alvernia Medical Centre didn’t irritate my skin at all!” - Kai Ling

Has your acne worsened after switching skincare products? An expert shares two common reasons why….
1 “It might not be acne after all! Conditions like rosacea, fungal folliculitis or even sunlight allergy can cause acne-like lesions. Also, for those with sensitive skin, acne products can also cause skin irritation and redness*, which can further worsen the inflammation.”
2 “Bad or severe inflammatory acne may need more than just topical ‘over-the-counter’ creams. In this case, it may be necessary to start using prescription-only medications, such as oral antibiotics or isotretinoin, which might help control the acne more effectively.”
*If this happens, stop using the products immediately and consult a dermatologist for proper assesment and treatment.
Eucerin is available at all leading pharmacies, Guardian, Watsons, Unity, NTUC FairPrice and major hospitals.
