The Inspiration
Imagine spending a sunny afternoon in the countryside, luxuriating in the joy of being surrounded by fragrant flowers in full bloom. It is this idyllic and bucolic daydream that served as the inspiration for Éclat de Fleurs.
“Sometimes, an image can strike you and stick in your mind. At the origin of this (perfume) creation is one of them: a wild field of flowers that immersed us in an Impressionist painting. The green herbs were sprinkled with colorful flowers scintillating in the sun, thus creating a picture symbolising a burst of flowers,” say perfumers Nicolas Beaulieu and Anne Flipo of IFF.
“For this fragrance, we have translated this image into scent. The rich and faceted ingredients of the fragrance gave us all the colours to create the essence of the fragrance,” they add.
To bring life to the spirit of the fragrance, the perfume’s visual is that of a trio of young women on swings in the shadow of trees in the woods. With loose, tousled tresses and wearing dreamy pastel dresses, they are surrounded by wild flowers and waving grass, the very picture of an ethereal, carefree life in the embrace of unspoilt nature.
The Ingredients
Scented with the pastoral charm of a floral fruity bouquet freshly picked from the woods, Éclat de Fleurs effortlessly combines the sophisticated fragrance of flowers with the tangy scent of fruits to evoke endless daydreams of an effervescent spring afternoon.
The fragrance opens with a succulent pear accord for a refreshing burst of notes at first sniff. After this airy top note, the floral heart of the perfume gradually releases its accents in an alluring combination of freesia, roses and jasmine sambac. Finally, Éclat de Fleurs ends with base notes comprising softly sweet white musk with creamy sandalwood that lingers on the skin long after the other notes have trailed off.
Together, these notes combine to create a harmonious yet spontaneous fragrance that manages to capture the joie de vivre of a beautiful spring day as artistic as the Impressionist paintings that inspired its creation.
The Bottle
Just as essential as the juice in expressing the identity of the perfume is the design of the bottle. For Éclat de Fleurs, the signature round glass bottle of the Éclat d’Arpège is imprinted with the gentle curved petals of a marguerite - the name of Jeanne Lanvin’s daughter, as well as the French word for “daisy”. The crystalline rosecoloured elixir shines through the carved glass, further emphasising the delicacy of this unique scent. Exclusive
In a nod to the original bottle, the Éclat de Fleurs bottle is topped with a rose diamond, under which two white gold rings intertwine, that eternal symbol of everlasting love. Similarly, the signature Plexiglas case of the Éclat d’Arpège line of fragrances is used for this new perfume. This time, the case is tinted with a tender rose lacquer that is luminous and transparent all at once, to magnify and to draw the eye to the bottle and all that it represents.
