Apple commits to solar power in Singapore.
RE100, founded by The Climate Group with CDP, is a global initiative encouraging businesses to commit to using 100 percent renewable energy. Its membership includes large tech companies like Facebook, Google, HP, Microsoft, and now, Apple.
Apple joins RE100 with a strong track record in clean energy. The company is already powering its operations in the US, China and 21 other countries with 100 percent renewable energy. In 2015, it powered 93 percent of its operations worldwide using renewable power.
Closer to home, Apple will be the first company in Singapore to rely entirely on solar power. Apple is working with local provider Sunseap to source power from more than 800 rooftops in the city-state. That will produce enough energy to run its entire Singapore operations, including the Apple Store in Orchard Road.
