TESLA, LAH

EDDIE GOH I recently returned from Hong Kong, where I noticed many Tesla S cars on the roads. Teslas are beautiful. As a matter of public interest, Torque should pursue, in greater depth, the reasons behind the absence of these electric cars in Singapore.

The LTA and our Government usually do not make policy decisions without some logic. Where their reasons are logical but debatable, the public discourse would benefit the motoring community. It is also interesting to note that Tesla’s top management had, reportedly, raised this matter with our Prime Minister. Strangely, all has been quiet since then, even from Tesla.

Torque There are Teslas on the road in Singapore. The three registered units are Model S fastback saloons – the first is a 285kW P85, the second is a 515kW P90 and the third is a 386kW P85D.

Instead of chasing a story about Tesla’s “Singapore short-circuit”, we’re more inclined to find the answers to a battery of questions about the Land Transport Authority’s roadmap for electric cars.

MEET THE FANS, TEST THE CARS JOE WOON I love the various reviews of new cars. You should have quarterly test-drive events with Torque fans, so as to add the finishing touch to your new-car reviews. I would also like to see more live videos of the test cars.

Torque Thanks for being a fan, with a good suggestion to boot.

FEED THE NEED LOW HSIEN AN I don’t subscribe to the print magazine, but I find your Torque Facebook feed to be pretty informative and entertaining. I also find your “Caption The Photo!” contests to be particularly interesting.

Torque We’re glad to know that you like what we post on Facebook. In addition to “Caption The Photo!”, we also run “Caption The Video!” and “Guess The Car!” contests regularly on our Facebook page. Take part, have fun and you could win prizes.

MORE TECH-KNOW MDM YONG It will be nice if Torque can feature the technological development of autonomous vehicles and electric cars. Artificial intelligence and renewable energy are set to dominate the auto industry and redefine car design.

Torque Thanks for the feedback. Automotive technology is developing so quickly that we’re barely keeping up with the changes, but we’ll continue to cut through the clutter and highlight the latest, greatest and smartest in car tech.

PLATFORM DEVELOPER MR PHAY I believe Torque is an excellent platform for people who are interested in cars, but efforts could be stepped up to engage a larger audience and probably appeal to more females as well.

Incorporate Torque elements/articles into car websites such as Sgcarmart. Hold more contests on Facebook or give tickets to roadshows. And the articles in your digital edition could be supplemented by Snapchat stories, which could attract the attention of people and then push the Torque content to them.

Torque Thanks for the ideas, especially the Snapchat one.
