… Try a new bar

every month It may be convenient to hit up the bar that’s just a stone’s throw from your office whenever you fancy a tipple, but for the sake of broadening your horizons, lock in a night once a month to combine your besties with booze and visit a new drinking hole. Singapore’s literally crawling with new venues and secret finds, so take this as your opportunity to explore.

… Have regular manicures

Nail polish is like an accessory for your hands. If you don’t have the cash flow to maintain regular salon visits, do them at home! Psst… you can even hit up CLEO.com.sg for awesome DIY ideas.

… Start a journal

What do Tavi Gevinson, Lena Dunham and Emma Watson all have in common? Among other things, they keep journals. And by extension, so should you. It doesn’t have to be a diary of what you did every day; instead, treat it as a repository for your dreams, inspirations, and memories. It could be a hardbound tome, or even a blog – just go forth and create!

… Book my dream trip

Is there a better feeling than booking the flight that will whisk you away on the holiday of your dreams? Answer: no.

… Take a lot more risks

Have you ever asked someone out? Those who have know it’s terrifying, but if you get a yes, you get a date, and if you get a no, you get a great excuse to eat a tub of ice cream. (Well, maybe not a whole tub.) The point is, if you want more out of life, you’ve gotta give more. So take a deep breath and talk to that guy, or ask for that promotion. The one sure outcome is you won’t regret trying.

… Embrace my inner sloth

It’s great to be busy, but it’s also super important to take time out for you. Schedule in what us cheesy magazine folk like to call “me time” at least once a week. Don’t worry, it doesn’t have to be long – even just an hour if it’s really all you can spare. But whatever you decide to do, make sure you turn your phone off, ignore your boyfriend and do something nourishing that will feed your soul and refresh your batteries. (Yep, watching trash TV counts!)

… Sleep in

This one is a no-brainer. Yeah, sleep experts will say it’s healthy to wake up at the same time on weekends as you would on weekdays, but really, we all know that’s not always going to happen. So stop feeling bad about it and lie back, snuggle into the covers and enjoy.

… Buy more shoes (or dresses, or jeans)

Do a stock take of your closet and itemise everything you have. Once you have a clear idea of what makes up your wardrobe, note which category is most lacking and make 2016 the year to fill the sartorial gap. If your shoe rack is uninspired, make an effort to inject more heels, flatforms or sneakers into your life. Or if you’ve been wearing the same swimmers since that one beach trip five years ago, invest in some cute new bikinis. Voila! A well-rounded wardrobe is yours.

… Inject some eye candy into my life

OK, so it’s embarrassing to have pictures of your celeb crushes plastering the bedroom walls, but there should still be space for this innocent pleasure in your life. Solution: pep up your Insta-feed with accounts that are all about switching on the female gaze. Hint: @hotdudesreading and @menandcoffee are our go-tos.
