What Laura May, founder of yogawear brand Nagnata, packs for a getaway
Laura in Paris
ME IN WORDS
LM: Moody, eclectic, energetic, vintage, artisanal, grunge with a nod to the 90s –– all depending on my mood and where I am in the world.
IN CASE
LM: I pack a lot of Nagnata knitwear as it’s versatile for my yoga practice on the road and easily transitions to my fashion wardrobe. I style these pieces with essentials like denim, tailored pants and blazer, T-shirts and a few good shoe options. I wear lots of gold jewellery by my friend Holly Ryan and always carry a small box of jewels.
GET LOST
LM: I am always travelling to amazing cities for work like Paris, New York, Tokyo and London, although what I really love are more remote places in India and Central America where I can immerse myself in culture and nature.
MUST HAVE
LM: Nagnata knitwear, a travel yoga mat and essential oils for face and body.
CAN’T FORGET
LM: I love staying at the Como Metropolitan Bangkok when I’m travelling for work. I visit vintage clothing markets and warehouses in the city, where it’s often hot and dirty. The Como has steam baths where you can unwind, have beauty treatments and sweat out the dirt from the day. They have a great gym and pool, and the Thai food at Nahm is some of the best I’ve ever eaten.
CHILL OUT
LM: Ayurvedic treatments like shirodhara are incredible in India. When I’m in cities for work I always try to find a Korean Spa or Turkish bathhouse so I can go to the steam room, sauna and have treatments to help balance and detox my body.
THIS SEASON’S PICK
LM: Nagnata’s houndstooth merino wool T-bar crop top and retro side stripe dress made from organic cotton.
NATURAL SCENT
LM: I only wear essential and Ayurvedic oils by my friend’s brand Ayu. My scent is Souq with notes of rose, jasmine, musk and sandalwood, which have long been revered for their grounding, cooling and calming properties.
Leave the day behind with a soak and a steam at Como Metropolitan Bangkok
SKIN STREAMLINE
LM: I try to avoid any chemicals in skincare and use a lot of rich essential oils on my face and body each night to deeply hydrate my skin. Lately I have been dry exfoliating with a Binchotan charcoal facial puff. It is made from a blend of fine Binchotan charcoal powder and vegetable fibers from the all-natural and mild Konjac root from Japan.
WHAT TO EAT
LM: It’s too hard to choose just one, but I do love Japanese cuisine. Many of the authentic, underground restaurants in Tokyo where friends have taken me are high on my list of fine dining experiences.
WHY EXPLORE?
LM: Experiencing different cultures and opening my mind. I feel grateful for being able to travel as much as I do, and incorporate my work with enriching life experiences.
