BLANCPAIN
Fifty Fathoms
The watchmaker reinterprets one of its vintage pieces from the 50s in tribute to brand CEO Jean-Jacques Fiechter’s diving career as well as the founders of the French Navy’s combat swimmers corps responsible for making Blancpain their official timepiece for underwater missions.
Fitted with the in-house automatic winding calibre 1151, Fifty Fathoms retains a water-tightness indicator recalling the designs of the 1950s MIL-SPEC 1. It also sports a uni-directional rotating bezel veiled in scratch-resistant sapphire and indexes in Super-LuminNova for easy reading.
CHOPARD
Mille Miglia 2017 Race Edition
Keeping with Chopard’s honourary status as official time keeper of the Mille Miglia, the 2017 version tips the hat with an engine-turned dial finish, counters inspired by vintage car dashboards, traditionally-shaped pushers nodding to engines, a large fluted crown resembling a fuel tank cap and a bezel with an aluminium insert bearing the tachymetric scale. On the steel version, the black rubber strap with a 1960s Dunlop racing tyre-tread motif completes the racing look.
OMEGA
The Seamaster Planet Ocean Big Blue
Following the success of 2016’s Planet Ocean “Deep Black”, Omega combines GMT and divers’ watch fashioned from a single block of blue ceramic, giving an extra pop to the orange GMT track as well as hands and indexes in 18k white gold with a Super-LumiNova coating. Water resistant to 60 bar and driven by the Omega Master Chronometer caliber 8906, the timpiece has gone through eight rigorous tests set by METAS.
