CHINA AND TAIWAN MARINAS ACCREDITED WITH GLOBAL GOLD ANCHORS

HORIZON CITY MARINA is the first marina in Taiwan to be accredited under the Global Gold Anchor Scheme. Two marinas in China have also been accredited under the new Global Gold Anchor Scheme as Five Gold Anchor marinas – Yalong Bay Yacht Club in Sanya and the Shanshui Taihu Club and Marina in Wuxi. The scheme is a joint venture initiative of the Marina Industries Association (MIA) and The Yacht Harbour Association (TYHA).

The modern Horizon City Marina is located in central Kaohsiung and is a 25-berth facility catering to boats from 12 to 60m. The marina provides a range of services and facilities for its customers including third Phase Power, fuel, security and video surveillance, restaurants and bar facilities.

“The scheme is designed to inform marina users as to the level of services and facilities at the marina and to encourage continual improvement within the marina industry,” says MIA President and Chairman Andrew Chapman. “Horizon City Marina has a strong customer focus and is developing its facilities and continually improving its offer to boating customers. The marina is to be congratulated on attaining a rating of four Gold Anchors. As the first and only Global PHOTOS: MIA Gold Anchor marina in Taiwan, this is a very significant achievement as the country looks to develop its marina infrastructure.”

“An accredited marina is indicative of quality services and facilities which are key factors that contribute to people’s enjoyment of yachting,” says Marina Manager Eve Kung. “As the Taiwanese yacht market has bloomed in recent years, the demand for planned marinas has grown accordingly and Horizon City Marina is committed to setting a strong example of best practice in marina construction and management.”

Shanshui Taihu had been accredited under MIA’s previous Gold Anchor Scheme, while for Yalong Bay Yacht Club this is the first time it has achieved Gold Anchor accreditation.

Yalong Bay Yacht Club is a modern 150-berth marina within the luxurious St. Regis Sanya Yalong Bay Resort. Taihu Shanshui Club and Marina is a 110-berth exclusive club-style marina located on the freshwater lake at Wuxi.

“Both Yalong Bay Yacht Club and Wuxi Shinshu Taihu Shanshui Club and Marina are very suitable first recipients of Global Gold Anchor accreditation in China,” says Chapman. “With their excellent land and on-water facilities and services, they provide a suitably high benchmark for other marinas in China to aspire to”.

“It is our honour to be the first marina to get Five Gold Anchors under the new Global Gold Anchor scheme in China. Our Club always insists on the concept of member service first and to holding more sailing events for members,” says Yalong Bay Yacht Club General Manager Mally Xiao.

“Thank you to our ex-Vice GM Wayne Pan and our whole staff’s efforts,” says Taihu Shanshui Club and Marina General Manager Roger Lei. “We will take this honour as a new start and work harder to supply high quality service to our members and yachts Owners”.
