If you’re drowning in e-mails

Are you one of those people with 1,348 e-mails sitting in your inbox? Conquer that mountain with Outlook, an e-mail app that lets you “snooze” e-mails to get them out of your way. They’ll reappear in your inbox when you’re ready to get to them, whether that’s later in the day, tomorrow or next week. It’s also smart enough to recognise important e-mails (based on who you interact with most often and the content of the e-mails), grouping them together so you can focus. It also has a built-in calendar to help you manage your schedule.

If you’re always forgetting something

From that report you promised to send to your boss to that bottle of wine to pick up for your friends’s houswarming party, remembering all the things you have to do can be overwhelming. That’s where Wunderlist comes in – it lets you create lists to manage your life. The app is also available on the web, and it all syncs quickly and reliably, so you can prep your to-do list on your smartphone during your morning commute, then check off your tasks on your office computer.

Wunderlist is available for free at the Google Play and Apple App store, and wunderlist.com.

If you’ve got more ideas than you can keep track of

A brilliant idea strikes you from out of the blue, but evaporates before you can find your notebook. This wouldn’t have happened if you had Evernote, a digital notebook that lets you save notes, drawings, pictures and even voice recordings to a device that’s always on hand – your smartphone. You can organise your notes according to tags or notebooks, and it’s all searchable. You can even search for text in pictures – imagine taking a photo of a post-it note or a page of a book and being able to search for the words on it. How amazing is that?

Evernote is available for free at the Google Play and Apple App store, and evernote.com.

If you want to be able to work anywhere, anytime

Ever e-mailed yourself a file so you could work on it at home? Or lost a USB drive containing important stuff? You need Google Drive in your life. It looks like a normal folder on your computer, but everything you throw into it is synced to the cloud, so you can get to your files on any device with an internet connection. You can even share the folder, so multiple people can work on a presentation or spreadsheet at the same time. And since everything’s in the cloud, your files are safe, even when you lose your phone or your computer crashes.

Google Drive is available for free at the Google Play and Apple App store, and google.com/drive.
