Long before the terms “eco-friendly” and “sustainability” became popular, BMW began equipping its models with innovations such as ECO PRO, Brake Energy Regeneration and Auto Start-Stop functions to reduce fuel consumption.

The first BMW electric vehicles were a pair of 1602 models fitted with lead batteries. Showcased at the 1972 Munich Olympics, these were utilised as support and camera cars, and had a maximum range of 60km.
IDRIVE
BMW started the “integrated infotainment” revolution with the iDrive operating system. Introduced in the fourth-gen 7 Series, iDrive still sets the benchmark for infotainment systems today.
GESTURE CONTROL
The latest 7 Series offers gesture control, which enables the driver to adjust certain infotainment settings via gestures. This is complemented by the new touchscreen function on the infotainment display.
xDRIVE
BMW xDrive made its debut in 1985. This intelligent allwheel- drive system monitors the driving situation constantly, and distributes power smoothly between the front and rear axles to ensure the best possible traction at all times, thus ensuring a safer yet more agile drive.
BMW i8
This eco-friendly supercar is driven by a petrol-electric powertrain, and features laser headlights and dramatic butterfly doors. It can perform the century sprint in 4.4 seconds, but is also capable of a staggering 47.6km/L. How awesome is that?
