FOR THE FASHIONISTA: BMW X4

It’s hard not to be taken with the BMW X4’s good looks: a seamless combination of the powerful appearance of a Sports Activity Coupe (a variation on the SUV) and the streamlined look of a classical coupe. A host of paint finishes, special interior trim strips, leather upholstery variants and more in the M Sport package let you add the finishing touches to the vehicle, making it truly yours. Pretty face aside, the BMW X4 doesn’t skimp on space or performance. The state-of-the-art TwinPower Turbo engines allow for acceleration from 0km to 100km per hour in just 5.5 seconds, while an impressive load capacity of up to 1,400 litres means you’ll have plenty of space for everything you need to lug around. A nice touch: the full-colour Head-Up Display (available only with the 28i model), which projects important driving information and the assistance systems displays into the driver’s fleld of view in high resolution for added convenience.

FOR THE FREESPIRITED: BMW 2 Series Convertible

Cutting a stunning flgure with its athletic proportions and sweeping lines, the BMW 2 Series Convertible fulfils all those romantic notions of driving with the top down. But it also appeals with its functionality; the use of high-tensile steel reduces the weight of the car for a more effortless drive, while its larger dimensions for a premium compact vehicle gives up to 30 more litres of boot capacity. For those spontaneous open-top moments, a touch of a button – while on the move at speeds of up to 50km per hour – opens and closes the soft-top in a mere 20 seconds. With the top up, you’re in a comfortable cocoon shielded from the buzz of the outside world, thanks to improved soundproofing with the addition of insulation in the soft-top skin.

FOR THE CAREER MUM: BMW 2 Series Gran Tourer

Just because you’re looking for a practical vehicle doesn’t mean you have to compromise on style. The BMW 2 Series Gran Tourer, the world’s first premium compact model to offer up to seven seats, boasts a sleek, dynamic shape that exudes BMW’s signature sporty elegance. More importantly, it offers a generous amount of space a young family would appreciate – up to 1,905 litres, depending on the position of the adjustable rear seats, plus a further 100 litres of hidden storage space underneath the folding boot floor. Its 1.5-litre advanced diesel engine makes for a powerful drive and a surprisingly low fuel consumption rate – just 4.4 litres per 100km, making it one of the most fuel-efficient vehicles in the market. Add to that its agility and ease of handling – thanks to a reducedfriction steering system and a lightweight body – and this is one hard-working multi-tasker.
