Aston Martin Vantage Roadster

The baby of Aston Martin’s lineup is now available with an open top. Behold, the new Aston Martin Vantage Roadster.

My Reading Room

It looks super pretty and it’s fast in many ways. Obviously, it’s going to be fast on the road. It may be rear-wheel drive, but it’ll still get from 0-100km/h in just 3.7 seconds. That’s mostly thanks to its AMG-sourced 4-litre V8 which puts out 503hp and 685nm of torque. And with the roof up and enough space, you’ll see 305km/h appear on the speedometer.

Its fabric roof is equally quick too. It has a Z-fold mechanism and it can lower itself in 6.7 seconds and raise itself in 6.8 seconds at speeds of up to 50km/h. Aston Martin claims this is the fastest of any convertible. Handy when it suddenly pours.

The folding roof mechanism is said to be shallow too, so there’s more boot space. Even with the roof down, Aston Martin claims up to 200 litres of boot space, which is enough for a full-size golf bag and some other golfing gear.

So, the new Aston Martin Vantage looks sick, is fast on the road, has a quick-folding roof, and it’s even quite practical. But is that enough for Gaydon to win fans over from Stuttgart? Guess we’ll have to wait and see.
