You’ve been good, 2016!

And just like that, in the wink of an eye, we’re bidding 2016 farewell. It’s a year that has literally flown past, probably because it’s been filled with so many exciting things happening in the office.

And just like that, in the wink of an eye, we’re bidding 2016 farewell. It’s a year that has literally flown past, probably because it’s been filled with so many exciting things happening in the office. Being in print all my working life, it was such a thrill to have our new baby out. Our website www.womensweekly.com.sg has The Weekly’s same DNA, but it allows busy women to access news, updates and advice for everything – from beauty to style, family to career, home to food – with just the click of a mouse. Combined with our tablet edition, we aim to continue to help you maximise your lives through any platform you choose.

This year’s Great Women Of Our Time Awards also took on a new look. We started the year with a brainstorming session where new ideas were hatched. What resonated with us were the words “Giving Back”; we wanted to tap on to our alumnae of brilliant nominees to give back to society and to you. Hence, we had our inaugural Supper Club which raised funds for the Halogen Foundation; and Forum, where both nominees and other successful women came together to share their experiences to inspire and motivate readers.

At our awards presentation party (page 48), Guestof- Honour, Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Law and Ministry of Finance, Indranee Rajah quoted Michelle Obama, who said, “When you’ve worked hard, and done well, and walked through that doorway of opportunity, you do not slam it shut behind you. You reach back.” Indeed, we reached back, to pay it forward. May your year have been just as special.
