FAIR SKIN

Go for pearlescent pink- or silver-based highlighters – the light pigments give pale skin just enough radiance without leaving a frosty finish. Pair with a rosy, pink blusher for cheeks that look naturally flushed.

MEDIUM-TONED SKIN

Champagne highlighters bring out the golden tones in medium-toned complexions beautifully. Use with a coral blusher to accentuate your natural sun-kissed glow.

DARKER SKIN

Gold- or bronze-toned highlighters illuminate darker complexions by adding warmth and radiance. Wear with a blusher with a berry or orange undertone for a lit-from-within glow.

We caught up with Louise Zizzo, senior artist at M.A.C who has worked with celebrities such as Gwen Stefani and Cyndi Lauper, when she was in town, and asked for her top three tips on wearing highlighter well.

1. Pick a highlighter based on your skin type.

If you have oily skin, go for a powderbased one. For drier skin types, work a cream-based one into the skin for a lustrous glow. Tip: applying a primer – which will act like glue – will help the highlighter last longer.

2. Placement is key.

Keep the rest of your face matte and apply highlighter only on the cheekbones and brow bones, avoiding the T-zone to prevent an oily appearance.

3. Work in thin layers and never pile on too much product without blending.

This will help you get that lovely naturallooking radiance
