“When you wake up in the morning and you like what you see in the mirror, then you know you’re on the right path”

Today Jennifer Thompson feels younger and healthier than ever, enjoying clear skin, great digestion, quality sleep and plenty of energy. But her path to wellness was not without its obstacles, suffering two years from a severe rash covering almost her entire body. An iridologist helped her identify the root of the cause, prescribing a nine-month elimination diet that revealed three food additives were the problem. She adopted a completely raw diet and became an iridologist herself, adding to her other roles as detox advisor, nutritionist and meditation guide in some of Thailand’s most respected detox centres and resorts.

Working with clients on fasts and undergoing juicing and colon cleanses, Thompson gained a wealth of experience during her time in Thailand and while giving health talks around the world. She belives that detoxes are the solution to soaring cancer, diabetes and heart disease rates. She says, “Detox is a gentle way to clean out some of that gunk building up in your colon, liver, kidneys, arteries and under the skin. Feeding your body organic and natural foods afterwards gives you more energy and gets the immune system running well again. No surgery, no pain, no pills.”

Helping clients consisting of professional athletes, celebrities and NASCAR drivers, Thompson helps those suffering from severe rashes, women trying to get pregnant after unsuccessful IVF treatments and the elderly experiencing chronic joint pain. Although not all of her clients detox, are vegan or forego conventional medicine, she is confident that adding certain foods to their diets will alleviate symptoms.

When assessing health, Thompson begins with an iridology analysis for a fullbody perspective which helps her devise a plan. She explains, “Many times someone will have a symptom but the imbalance is somewhere completely different. One of my teachers used to say, ‘When you pull a cat’s tail, it’s the other end that screams.’ If they only focus on their symptom, they will never find the true cause of the problem.”

Identifying the issue is most rewarding for Thompson as it gives her clients a new lease on life, as the last pieces of the puzzle fall into place. “This is so valuable because the person has a sense of hope and can let go of feeling angry at their body. You need to love yourself in order to get well.” Over the years, she has developed an intuitive approach to healing and never underestimates the importance of lending a compassionate ear.

Providing the opportunity to heal makes everything worthwhile for Thompson, having seen so many frustrated as a result of being unable to find a solution to their ailments. “I watch people throw their money down the toilet on all kinds of unimportant things but don’t want to spend on a health coach! It’s like they sell themselves short when what they really want is to feel good on the inside. Believe me, once you are really healthy, there is a wonderful sense of joy, a feeling of being alive and a connection to a greater purpose and a divine universal love.”

Choosing to help others on this journey, Thompson and her husband have plans for a wellness retreat in the mountains of North Carolina to give people a chance to slow down, nourish, find balance and heal while surrounded by nature. The teaching component will be a main focus so that guests are equipped with cooking and gardening skills to continue healthy living back in the real world. She says, “Wellness isn’t just about a food or diet. Being healthy is how you feel about yourself. When you wake up in the morning and like who you see in the mirror, then you know you’re on the right path.” www.healthybliss.net
