#1 BUDGETSAVER!

THE BEST HOTEL HACKS:

Book your flight and room together if your travel dates are firmed up. This can get you incredible discounts. Try checking in late. Front-desk agents have a better idea of the hotel’s occupancy later in the day, and you may just be lucky enough to score a room upgrade. Just be discreet and polite! Share your special occasion in advance. Don’t be shy about letting the hotel know if you’re on your honeymoon, or celebrating an anniversary or birthday. A bottle of champagne or other sweet treats may be awaiting your arrival.

#2 DID YOU KNOW?

YOU DON’T NEED TO SPEND MORE THAN $2,500 FOR A TWO-WEEK TRIP TO THE NORTH AND SOUTH ISLANDS OF NEW ZEALAND.

Just keep in mind these pointers: Fly via Sydney or Perth on budget carriers like Scoot and Jetstar Asia, then connect to Auckland on Virgin Australia or Jetstar – ZUJI offers credit card discounts for flights on these carriers. Also, book your car rental online at least three months in advance and keep a lookout for coupons on car rental sites to save on fuel and transport costs.

#3 BEAT JET LAG

THREE THINGS TO DO TO ENSURE YOU ARRIVE FRESH:

Secure the best seat on the plane – the one near the emergency exit. This affords more legroom and is near the lavatory. Alternatively, opt for a window seat so you can sleep undisturbed. Pick a flight that lands in the afternoon. You will have more time to settle in at your new destination and tire yourself out for a deeper sleep at night. Drink enough water. Staying hydrated is crucial to battling the low humidity in the cabin, and ensuring you look and feel great after landing.

#4 AWESOME ALTERNATIVES

TRY THESE MORE AFFORDABLE HOLIDAY OPTIONS:

For the wine lover: Instead of Bordeaux, France, try Yarra Valley, Australia. For the ski enthusiast: Instead of the Swiss Alps, Switzerland, try Hokkaido, Japan. For the beach bunny: Instead of Bora Bora, French Polynesia, try the Maldives.

Mongolia
Mongolia
#5 TRAVEL-INSPO

WHICH OF THESE WILL YOU ADD TO YOUR TRAVEL BUCKET LIST?

Is it horseback riding in Mongolia, scuba diving in the Great Barrier Reef in Cairns, or stargazing in Tuscany? And did you know that you can catch the Northern Lights in Scotland?
