RIVA RIVAMARE – A NEW ICON

Ferretti Group announced its new icon – Rivamare – this summer in Sarnico, the historic Riva shipyard in Italy, then made a huge splash by placing the 39-foot yacht at the main entrance to the Cannes Yachting Festival in September.

“The conception, design and construction of the new and remarkable Rivamare has been a very exciting experience for us,” says Ferretti Group CEO Alberto Galassi. “A masterpiece created in our magnificent, completely renovated boatyard in Sarnico, with a production line exclusively dedicated to the new model, taking forward Carlo Riva’s dream to always build the most beautiful boat.”

A collaboration between Officina Italiana Design – the firm headed by Mauro Micheli and Sergio Beretta, sole designers of the entire Riva fleet – the Ferretti Group Engineering Department and Strategic Product Committee, Rivamare is 11.88 metres (39ft) long, with a full beam of 3.5 metres (11.6ft).

On the left side of the windscreen is the searchlight, a hallmark of the Aquarama and Aquariva Super models, showing the close continuity between Rivamare and these past and present icons.

Rivamare is equipped with a pair of D6 400 DPH Volvo Penta engines (stern driven propulsion), each generating 400Mhp at 3,500rpm, with integrated trim provided by a stern drive and interceptor management system.

In terms of performance, the boat can reach a cruising speed of 32 knots and a maximum speed of 40 knots.

Performance also means comfort – upon request, an air-conditioning system can be installed in the lower deck and helm station and, for the first time on a boat this size, a Seakeeper NGS stabiliser to minimise rolling motion when at anchor.

WIDER 32 – VERY VERSATILE

Originally conceived as a versatile tender for the Wider 150 and Wider 165 superyachts, the Wider 32 is also a fun, fast and innovative express day cruiser – ideal for anyone who loves performance and originality, matched with the comfort of well-designed living spaces.

The Wider 32 can be uniquely personalised by choice of colour combinations for the composite hull and superstructure, and modified in terms of interior capabilities.

It is an easy boat to handle thanks to the combination of twin Mercruiser TDI 260hp engines and the well-designed deep-V hull, which absorbs the impact of waves. The twin engines make manoeuvring easy in tight confines, yet can also achieve a top speed of 37 knots.

The roomy cockpit of the Wider 32 has sofas and foldable tables that can be configured to suit a variety of uses. In addition, the yacht is equipped with an adjustable awning to shade the cockpit.

A stylish sliding door, situated beside the dashboard, grants access below deck. The cabin offers ample storage and is furnished with two comfortable sofas, which are easily converted into spacious beds. The galley – fitted with a sink, ceramic hot plate and minibar – can be stowed away discreetly when at sea. The bow houses the head, which extends across the width of the hull to accommodate a generous shower.

VANQRAFT 16 - RETHINKING THE TENDER

As well as making waves with the VQ48 and its other recent launches in the mid-size powerboat range, Vanquish Yachts is also rethinking the market for water scooters. The awesome new Vanqraft 16 doubles as a superyacht tender and several have been sold recently.

Unlike previous aluminium versions, these new models will be built in composite and polyester, giving the yard the chance to offer a special price on any other orders received by mid-November. The six-seater Vanqraft 16 is also available in an even faster Veloce version, offering speeds of well over 50 knots.

The ever-innovative Vanquish Yachts has translated the distinct visual language seen on recent launches such as the VQ 48 into a spacious, five-metre fun machine. The Vanqraft 16 is a crossover between a superyacht tender and a water scooter, created in close cooperation with Guido de Groot Design and the naval architects at Studio Delta.

The Vanqraft 16 is driven by a 200hp Yamaha 1.8-litre engine with jet propulsion, can easily achieve 40 knots and can sail in reverse. The jet drive is built flat into the hull, which makes it easy to fit into any tender garage.

The Veloce version has supercharged engines. The Vanqraft 16 is powerful enough to tow a variety of toys, including water skis, banana boats and wakeboards.

CHRIS CRAFT – STUNNING LINES

The new 8.1-metre Capri 25 is the second member of the Capri “Vertical Bow” family, following on from the Capri 21 that was introduced at the Cannes Yachting Festival in 2013. Similar to its younger sister, the Capri 25 embraces design cues from the brand’s original DNA and harks back to the Chris-Craft vertical bow models of the 1930s. The classic sloped tumblehome has become a signature of Chris-Craft design. The engine choices include several powerful Mercury or Volvo V8s.

Features include a newly designed dash along with a cabin below equipped with a head. The Capri 25 boasts a larger cockpit with foldout teak tables on each side of the cockpit for entertaining.

For ultimate ease of entry, the portside hydraulic walk through lowers – at the touch of a button – to create a stable walking path. This innovative solution eliminates the need to traverse a cushioned surface and, just as importantly, it lifts back up so as not to interrupt the stunning lines that define the Capri.

WILLIAMS MINIJET – SMALL WONDER

Williams Jet Tenders, the world’s leading jet tender manufacturer, has introduced the Minijet range – a smaller, lighter and more accessible tender option that will allow owners of sub-45ft power and sailboats to experience the world of Williams.

Powered by the industry-leading BRP Rotax Ace 900 engine, the Minijet 280 weighs in at under 200kg, making it around 100kg lighter than the equivalent Turbojet model. The lighter weight and more compact dimensions will enable it to fit on a wider range of boats, as well as giving it a more accessible price point, all without compromising the exceptional performance and quality on which Williams has built its reputation.

The Minijet offers unrivalled functionality with its shallow draft and manoeuvrability, and with no outboard engine to fit or remove every time, it’s simpler to use. The design features incorporate the signature Williams quality fit and finish, delivering the trademark performance and handling expected from a Williams – there are not many 2.8m tenders that comfortably travel at 30 knots.

DEEPFLIGHT SUPER FALCON 3S

The DeepFlight Super Falcon 3S submarine debuted at the 2016 Monaco Yacht Show. Designed to enable people to experience underwater flight and view amazing sea life from resorts, yachts, and other seaside locations.

The Super Falcon 3S adds a third cockpit to its flagship vehicle so that a pilot can take two passengers on underwater flights to 400ft (120m). It will have Lloyds Register classification and be US Coast Guard certified.

In the Super Falcon 3S, passengers sit comfortably in individual cockpits. The polished acrylic viewing domes afford almost 360-degree visibility.

Like all DeepFlight submarines, the all-electric, zero pollution Super Falcon 3S is positively buoyant, meaning the craft automatically floats back to the surface.

DeepFlight recently partnered with Shanghai-based Rainbowfish Ocean Technology to open the oceans for underwater tourism around the world.

Rainbowfish aims to reach the depth of 11,000 metres in the Mariana Trench by 2019, which will mark the first time in human history in which a scientist, an entrepreneur, and an aquanaut down will travel down to the extreme of the hadal zones.
