My Reading Room
Trello

A project-management tool for personal to-do lists and collaborative work, Trello lets you create visual boards using a collection of cards to describe various tasks. Add labels, due dates, images and attachments to each card. The cards can be moved across boards, which make it easy to organise your work ow under “ideas”, “to-do lists”, “current projects” and “completed work”. We like how it illustrates the big picture and helps us stay on top of deadlines. You can keep your boards private or add members. Start using it at https://trello.com.

Slack

A virtual hub for internal communications, Slack facilitates text-based discussions in real time with instant messaging, document sharing and wordsearch capabilities. You can have group discussions in channels and send direct messages to selected team members – handy if anyone’s working remotely. The Slack App Directory lets you search for apps like Trello from within Slack itself. Like kaya and toast, they complement each other in terms of workflow. Learn more at https://slack.com .

Inbox by Gmail

Step up your Gmail game and track everyday information in a more organised fashion with this new and improved mailbox. Use the Highlights feature to view online order updates, reservation details, pictures and so on at a glance, without having to open e-mails. Flight and hotel booking references that always arrive too early can be put on “snooze”, so they pop up only right before your trip. The “snooze button” also grants you control over tasks, allowing you to separate what can be put off until later from what you need to focus on immediately. Check it out at www.google.com/inbox .
