How do you stay connected while on the go? Gadgets like smartphones make connectivity easy in this day and age, but how do you do so safely while driving? With Opel, the answer is IntelliLink.

GET FOCUSED

IntelliLink offers smart connectivity options while helping you stay safe and focused on the road. It incorporates a built-in voice-activated GPS navigation system that ensures you’ll never get lost, while also offering you the option to sync your smartphone via USB or Bluetooth to it, allowing for handsfree operation while on the move. Access to the navigation or your smartphone functions is via the intuitive touchscreen, or through smartphone voice control, with IntelliLink compatible with Apple’s Siri voice recognition system. Furthermore, IntelliLink offers additional infotainment options through the Apple CarPlay app (above), which supports certified apps that have been optimised for in-vehicle usage, such as podcasts, radio and music apps.

SAFETY IS OF PARAMOUNT IMPORTANCE TO OPEL, WHICH IS WHY YOU CAN LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING THE FOLLOWING FEATURES IN YOUR AUTOMOBILE:

OPEL EYE

Mounted between the windshield and rear-view mirror, this camera (above, left) helps with four different systems. Traffic Sign Recognition alerts you of traffic signs and speed limits, Lane Departure Warning helps ensure you’re not unknowingly straying from your lane, Forward Collision Alert (above, right) warns you if you’re about to hit a car or obstacle ahead, and Following Distance Indication indicates how far ahead the car in front of you is, so you can maintain a safe distance.

SIDE BLIND SPOT ALERT

Like an extra eye, sensors built into the car alert you to obstacles that are in your blind spot. A visual alert appears on the relevant wing mirror (above, left), and if you indicate while an object is present in the blind spot, the system will sound off an audible warning.

ADAPTIVE FORWARD LIGHTING

This adjusts the car’s headlights to suit your driving environment. Nine different lighting functions provide optimum illumination for any situation, whether you’re driving through a quiet town, on a rainy night, or on a dark and winding country road.

LANE CHANGE ALERT

A radar system that detects traffic up to 70m away from either side of the car, and works in tandem with Side Blind Spot Alert to warn you of approaching traffic from behind when you want to change lanes or overtake.

ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL

The use of radar helps to detect vehicles ahead. The car will control the throttle and brakes accordingly to maintain a certain distance behind the vehicle ahead, and you can adjust the distance you want via the steering wheelmounted controls.
