If you think that accountants are boring, then you haven’t met people like Kevin Tan. The 40-year-old CPA (certified public accountant), who co-founded Connexions Corporate Solutions, is a car enthusiast with a passion for driving.

Accountants are trained to delve into a company’s books and analyse figures. We asked Kevin to put his analytical skills to use behind the wheel of the latest 7 Series, so he could discover the cutting-edge innovations beneath its sublime design.

Naturally, Kevin had plenty to share after spending some time with this dynamic limousine.

How do you feel about the 7 Series’ design and proportions?

Although it’s a large car, it doesn’t look awkward or unwieldy. In fact, it looks agile and sporty, and the lines on its body further enhance its strong and robust presence. The 7 Series’ stance gives you confidence and inspires you to drive faster!

What do you think about the active flaps in the kidney grille?

The active flaps give me a high-tech feel about the car. They remind me of the aerodynamic aids used by Formula Once racecars, which enable the driver to actively adjust the car in response to racing conditions.

It's impressive to learn that technologies like these can be found in road cars, too.

Do you think that BMW’s innovations, such as the Air Curtains and Air Breathers, enhance the 7 Series’ performance?

Because I have a keen interest in cars, I know that they have an impact on performance, more so if you’re the type to push cars a little harder.

At higher speeds, the car feels a lot more stable and assured, especially when you take bends a little faster, and get on the throttle earlier as the road straightens out. The 7 Series feels composed and competent, despite its size.

Do you feel that the Carbon Core makes the car feel stiffer and more secure?

Although I can’t see the Carbon Core, it’s definitely reassuring to know that the 7 Series and its passenger cell are made up of stronger and tougher materials. The knowledge that you’re well-protected is priceless.

What do you think of the 7 Series’ handling abilities?

Given its size, it is both amazing and impressive that the 7 Series drives and handles so easily. It accelerates quickly and is also surprisingly agile around corners. A lot of the credit goes to the Carbon Core.
