The versatile vehicle has a zero-emissions, all-wheeldrive system with an electric motor at the front axle, another at the rear axle and a 111kWh battery pack which can be recharged to 80 percent of its capacity within 30 minutes.
With a power output of 369bhp, the electric vehicle can accelerate from a standstill to 100km/h in around 5 seconds and reach a governed top speed of 160km/h.
The theoretical driving range is 600 kilometres – about the distance from Singapore to Kuala Lumpur and back.
It’ll be a pleasant journey for the folks on board, thanks to road-trip-friendly features such as adjustable/convertible seats with individually placed cushions, a multi-functional centre console and Bluetoothenabled Beats loudspeakers.
Completing the spacious living room on 22-inch wheels are its wood floor, metallic leatherette door trim and knit fabric seat upholstery.
The vehicle can also operate autonomously in its I.D. Pilot mode, which activates an array of scanners, sensors and cameras to “autopilot” the car safely through traffic and towards the next destination or point of interest.
According to Volkswagen, the I.D. Buzz carries the feeling of freedom of the Microbus over to a completely new era of mobility.
