Mercedes-Maybach, Daimler’s ultra-upmarket sub-brand for the ridiculously rich, has unveiled the G650 Landaulet.

It’s an exclusive limited edition (99 units) of the G-Class off-roader with an electrically controlled fabric top, which lets the highly privileged (and high off the ground) rear passengers enjoy an awesome open-air experience at the press of an expensive button. They can also control a glass partition (up-or-down and transparent-or-opaque) that separates the rear compartment from the driver’s section.

Those rear seats are first-class armchairs from the S-Class limousine, equipped with massage functions, calf rests, thermal cupholders, table-tops and 10-inch multimedia entertainment displays.

Entertaining, too, is the G650’s all-terrain performance. With its 6-litre biturbo V12, 630bhp, 1000Nm, 100-percent differential locks and unstoppable four-wheel-drive system, the G650 can conquer every possible obstacle, natural or man-made, between Marina Bay Sands and Middle East sands.
