My Reading Room

BMW’s latest 7 Series, especially in 750Li form, is a formidable car indeed. But apart from its compelling 450bhp turbocharged 4.4-litre V8 engine, this limousine also offers a luxurious lounging experience for rear seat passengers.

We asked lawyer Sarjeet Singh and his wife Ida, who works as a manager, to put the 7 Series’ pampering abilities to the test.

Not surprisingly, this dynamic couple had plenty to say about their experience, which also led them to conclude that being chauffeured in a 7 Series is just as good as being in the driver’s seat.

What did you think about Ambient Lighting? Were the colour options to your liking?

Sarjeet Singh (SS): It really created a different mood relative to the colour chosen. From an upbeat, disco-like neon blue to a soothing amber to calm the nerves after a long day. I liked how the colours could be changed.

Ida Tan (IT): I loved the variety of colours and the fact that the light bathes the entire cabin.

Did you both find the Sky Lounge Panorama roof mood-enhancing?

SS: It certainly was. I felt like I was in a convertible, except that I was protected from the elements. It complemented the Ambient Lighting and made us both feel good.

IT: I loved the feel of natural light streaming in from above, which made the interior feel spacious and elegant.

Was the 7-inch tablet useful to you?

SS: In the age of smartphones and the ability to control a multitude of devices remotely, it will become a necessity for passengers if it hasn’t already.

IT: It’s a convenient way for me to access the rear- seat entertainment without any assistance from the front passenger or driver. It should become a standard feature in order for a flagship saloon to be truly considered a limousine.

Did you both enjoy the massage function? How did it benefit you?

SS: It was therapeutic and made the Executive Lounge experience for the rear seat passengers more complete.

IT: I loved the eight different massage programmes, which have three intensity levels. It created a full body- massage experience and made every journey a more relaxing one.

Did you both find the Vitality Programme useful?

Both: It’s an added bonus. That’s literally what you’d call getting a workout “on the go”!
