The Perfect Bathroom

When I was renovating my HDB flat, I never knew putting my bathroom together would be so challenging. It may not have been a big space, but perhaps knowing that mistakes are hard to do over (you can’t paint over a wrong tile colour!) made me pay extra attention to details.

My Reading Room

Besides spending hours choosing wall and floor tiles, I also visited innumerable shops for my bathroom fixtures – looking for the “perfect” faucet, soap dish, towel rack, mirror… the list goes on.

The lesson learnt here is that the “perfect” soap dish or towel hook doesn’t exist, as you’ll always find a more “perfect” one later on – the one you’d wish you had waited for instead of the one you bought. So buy what you like (at a price you are happy with), and always buy quality.

Find design inspiration in our bumper bathroom feature this month, Beautiful Bathrooms, on page 59 – get ideas for washbasin and tap pairings (that’s a whole other story), check out material choices, the latest fittings and sanitaryware in the market, cleaning tips, and more!

We’ve coupled that with an article on choosing water heaters for your home, In Hot Water, on page 128, because who doesn’t love a hot shower at the end of the day? There’s more for readers of the digital edition – enjoy a round-up of the best-looking mirrors around, and also chic finds for the home office.

With our help, I hope you get the bathroom of your dreams (and that you won’t take as long as I did)!
