After three years and $410 million, the rejuvenated Suntec City now has some 960,000 sq ft of retail space, enhancing its position as a “city within a city”. To celebrate its official opening on Oct 22, guests from leading businesses, financial institutions and key government agencies were invited to an evening of revelry.

There was an element of giving, too. Ms Chew Gek Khim, Chairman of Suntec Reit, presented a cheque donation of $200,000 towards beneficiaries of the President’s Challenge 2015, which is co-championed by the Ministry of Social and Family Development and the National Council of Social Service, to benefit voluntary welfare organisations from different sectors.

Mr Yeo See Kiat, chief executive officer of ARA Trust Management (Suntec) Limited, manager of Suntec REIT, enthused: “With a plethora of retail, lifestyle, entertainment and dining options, Suntec City is a city for everyone, complementing the myriad attractions in the Marina Bay precinct.”

After a $180-million modernisation programme in June 2013, Suntec Singapore Convention & Exhibition Centre features cutting-edge technology and free Wi-Fi, to work in tandem with the digital nature of today’s business. Suntec Singapore has resumed its position at the forefront of the MICE industry and has since hosted over 1,200 events and welcomes more than 5 million visitors annually. It also boasts F&B outlets offering cuisines that suit the requirements of a wide range of shoppers and MICE visitors. The new centre is fronted by a striking, three-storey, interactive digital wall, The Big Picture, which is fitted with 664 full high-definition LED screens, and was awarded the Guinness World Record for “Largest High Definition Video Wall” in 2013.

And the sprawling Suntec City mall has an eclectic tenancy mix to appeal to both local visitors and tourists. From the West Wing’s fast-fashion labels to the East Wing’s family-centric and entertainment options (such as the 11-screen Golden Village cineplex which includes three Gold Class screens), and tourist attractions like Alive Museum and the DUCK & HiPPO tour, there’s something for everyone.

The North Wing houses a lively mix of tenants with diverse merchandise, including gourmands’ market Pasarbella and the new Asian-designer-focused MPORIUM.

At the event, Mr Yeo said: “What sets us apart is our diverse retail mix and a plethora of unique dining experiences. At the new Sky Garden, diners can enjoy both alfresco and indoor dining ambiences, overlooking the civic and cultural district on one side and the iconic Fountain of Wealth on the other.”
