To wear or not to wear – this is something I struggle with every morning when I’m looking at my lipstick stash. As much as I love them, lipsticks are troublesome – they tend to transfer onto cups and get onto teeth, not to mention fade to a patchy stain after lunch.
Thankfully, there are some lip products that fare better than others. I’m talking about my new obsession: Estee Lauder Pure Color Envy Liquid Lip Potion. It goes on like a gloss, looks like a lipstick, and feels like a hydrating balm. And by this, I mean that it goes on wet but dries to a matte finish, and is formulated with a cocktail of hyaluronic acid and oils such as avocado, jojoba and sunflower to keep the lips flake-free for ages.
The lightweight yet pigmented formula also stays put for hours, so you don’t have to worry about product transfer or fading.
What I love most, though, is the curved applicator tip that makes it oh-so-easy to colour the lips – without the need for a lip liner.
If you’re planning on bagging one of the darker hues – my fave of the 12 colours is Fragile Ego, a bold plum – pick up Estee Lauder Pure Color Envy Lip Volumizer ($40) too. Wear it under the dark lip colour to counteract the deep hue’s lip-thinning effect – trust me, it’ll make your pout look voluptuously juicy. Bonus: It gives a pleasantly cooling sensation when applied, and can be worn alone for a natural-looking light pink tint.
