I admit I have an addiction to masks – I use one every night. To earn my stamp of approval, a mask needs to leave my skin soft, glowing and hydrated. Being a big fan of Estee Lauder’s famed Advanced Night Repair serum, I naturally had high expectations of the brand’s latest offering: the Advanced Night Repair Concentrated Recovery Powerfoil Mask.
The sheet mask boasts two layers: an outer foil matrix and an inner one infused with a serum with reported reparative properties. According to the brand, the outer matrix acts like a protective cocoon, keeping the good stuff inside (ie the serum) from evaporating.
So did the mask measure up to my yardstick? After removing the mask, my skin was noticeably brighter and plump to the touch. The redness around my nose and slight ruddiness on my cheeks had also faded, thanks, I’m sure, to the potent blend of anti-irritants in the formula, including lady’s thistle, birch extract and magnolia bark extract. I like that the mask comes in two pieces – one covers the forehead, nose and cheeks, and the other, the lower part of the face–as it made application so much easier.
I say the results are worth it – even if you resemble the Man in the Iron Mask for a good 10 minutes. – Charmaine Lee, beauty writer
