You may think meditation is reserved for New Age hippies or super spiritual yogis, but it’s actually a great help to any mere mortal who is suffering from insomnia. Researchers at the University of Southern California and the University of California in Los Angeles have found that just 20 minutes of mindfulness meditation a day can help with insomnia, fatigue and even depression.

Mindfulness meditation involves focusing on the present moment by paying attention to your breathing, and causes your body to relax in a way that eases stress-related ailments like anxiety and depression. It can be done at any time of the day, but we suggest doing it right after you wake up so you’ll start the day feeling fresh and awesome!
