A Green Stay

The über-chic Virgin Hotels Chicago was recently awarded the LEED Gold Certification by the US Green Building Council (USGBC). Opened in 2015, the hotel transformed the 1920s art deco bank building it’s housed in with the goal of net zero carbon and net zero waste in mind. With its sustainable approach that includes hotel-wide recycling, green housekeeping, soap donation, green roofs and highperformance, energy- and water-efficient amenities, it’s no wonder the 250-room hotel has exceeded its original goal of LEED Silver. www.virginhotels.com.
