Cosmopolitan chic meets rustic charm in this countryside home in Ibiza.

The whitewashed facade of this three-bedroom house stands out against the 2ha surrounding gardens. As local planning regulations restricted any extension of the building, the interiors were completely redesigned to modernise the home.
An extension to the pool house features a large bar with built-in fridges, dishwashers, a music system, a grill and even a wood-fired pizza oven. Sleek bar stools complete the loungey, chillout vibe, while the decorative hanging shells sourced from a local market add a charming rustic touch.
In the living room, the previous bread oven was converted into a cosy nook and padded with colourful throw cushions. A French Connection natural tree stump side table and B&B Italia Husk chair nearby contribute an organic energy to the space.
The master bedroom on the upper floor opens out to a lovely terrace with a stunning view of the surrounding countryside. The B&B Italia outdoor sofa provides comfortable seating space for soaking in the scene.
The revamped state-of-the-art Doca kitchen, with Gaggenau appliances, features bursts of colour against an Ibizan cool white. Pop art on the walls, orange Masters bar stools by Philippe Starck for Kartell and glossy granite worktops inject a dash of glamour.
Timber beamed 4m-high ceilings accentuate the living space, which was
fitted out with a wood-burning fireplace featuring a flamed granite base
and black steel backing. The wall feature holds up a 70-inch TV set and
surround sound system. The two L-shaped Lazytime sofas are by Camerich.
The world has long heard Ibiza’s hip, clubby clarion call emanating from the Balearic isles in the Mediterranean, but few know that this summer party central also boasts lush country estates. Framed against blistering blue skies and verdant gardens, this vacation home in northern Ibiza’s countryside region underwent an interior makeover that converted it from simple farmhouse to sophisticated suite.
TG-Studio’s Thomas Griem transformed the two-storey, 4,840sqf home into a “London cool meets Ibiza” showcase, with a slew of distinctly modern touches within the original ethnic surrounds. A disused bread oven adjoining the living room took on new form as a cosy alcove that the owners, who live in the UK, can chill out in when they stay at the villa on holidays. The snug space’s circular roof light bathes the space in sunshine in the day, and affords a view of twinkling starlight at night.
In keeping with the style of a holiday home, “we wanted to create a relaxed atmosphere which is easy to maintain,” says Thomas. This came about with the generous use of light and organic building materials and textures, subtly melded with fresh, urban lines and colours throughout. The pool house and terraces kept their handsome structures, but were updated with stylish outdoor furniture and modern amenities to create the ultimate pool party area. On party island, the best party can still be had at home.
WHERE TO GO:
A bedroom opens out to a terrace. Colours are kept neutral and coupled with eclectic furnishings to add interest.
Natural, organic materials give the master bedroom a soothing feel. A
Maison Du Monde desk, Wishbone chair, and a West Elm cabinet are the
finishing touches to the cosy, rustic space.
For the pool house, TG-Studio designed the furniture with distinctly warm, earthy elements. It was then made by Ibizan craftsmen and accentuated with throw cushions and other local accessories.
The en suite to a bedroom boasts a large bowl-shaped bathtub framed against a matching slate grey pebble wash floor.
Warm, organic materials infuse the home with a tropical holiday feel. At the same time, thoroughly modern fittings make it the perfect practical, urban escape.
