When EXO burst into the scene in 2012, nobody expected the quiet main vocalist Do Kyungsoo, who goes by the moniker D.O., to become the actor of the group. After all, he hadn’t expressed interest in acting, and half the time, he wore a default facial expression: blank. Who would have thought he’d be such an expressive actor? Not us, that’s for sure.

But the 23-year-old is already on his fifth acting stint, and has received stamps of approval from both critics and producers alike. One movie and two TV dramas later, he’s already snagging awards for his impressive performances. He proves his mettle once again in his latest movie Unforgettable, in which he plays Beomshil, a teenager with a blunt personality who is hopelessly devoted to a girl (played by Kim Sohyun).

Besides sporting a more tanned appearance for the movie, we heard he also had his first kiss scene, which he described during a press conference as one that “best describes the phrase ‘first love’”. Right after filming for Pure Love wrapped up, Kyungsoo took up a role in another movie, Hyung, which is slated for a November release. He plays a fallen judo player and, ever the professional, even gave up his slim frame and bulked up for his role. We’re definitely not complaining about his new look.

THE MANY FACES OF DO KYUNGSOO

With a versatility that rivals veteran actors, it’s no wonder that the K-Idol has been sweeping awards for his acting. Here’s a highlight reel of his acting career.

Cart

The hardest part about filming this movie? Yelling at his on-screen mother, because he has never raised his voice at his parents before. Husband material, y’all.

It’s OK, That’s Love

He received critical acclaim for his portrayal of a high school boy with Lou Gehrig’s disease. Get those awards, bb.

Hello Monster

The epitome of a devil with an angelic face, he’s a psychopathic mass murderer in this drama. So wrong, yet so right.
