THE INTERNATIONAL MARKET offers many different motorboats between 50 and 70 feet equipped with a flybridge, but the new Absolute 60 Fly gives the immediate impression of being a very interesting boat in terms of shape, space, comfort at anchor and during navigation, areas to relax or tan in the sun, and so on.

There is a big sensation of space on board – first in the large stern area and then on the flybridge, which is very spacious and well equipped to provide Owner and guests the maximum in terms of comfort. Another area dedicated to open-air relaxation is at the bow, where a big sun pad is located.

The Italian boatyard offers three different options to adapt this very interesting and high-performing boat for any kind of market, so this is a 60-footer able to meet the tastes of Owners in many different markets around the world – that’s the target of the company, and we can safely say that it has been obtained.

One example is how the boatyard has taken care of the space management on board. The cockpit area is equipped as usual with a table and a very comfortable sofa, but the area is equipped with a tent to offer privacy when the yacht is moored in a busy place, or the breeze is too cold, or just to make the area more private when the boat is at anchor.

The saloon on the main deck and is connected with the cockpit by a big crystal sliding door, offering the pleasant sensation of a unique space when open, divided between open area at the stern and enclosed inside the superstructure. The lateral windows allow the Owner and guests to have sea views also when seated on the two sofas in the internal saloon.

At the starboard bow of the main deck is the internal helm station, where all systems are controlled thanks to digital panels and systems repeaters, allowing the Captain to have the boat under total and safe control at any time. Ergonomically very well designed and realised, the helm station has a 360-degree view thanks to the large glass surface of the superstructure.

The interior layout includes three cabins, all with better ensuites. The sensation of space is everywhere thanks to a very interesting height and linearity of the upholstery. The windows are large enough to ensure pleasant natural light and sea views. The results obtained by the yard in terms of space optimisation, ergonomic solutions and comfort are due to a project born under the Integrated Structural System (ISS) philosophy.

ISS was born in the 90s from an original idea of Sergio Maggi, but from the beginning it was updated to offer the most innovative technical solutions. Absolute adopts this kind of technology for each new model and the R&D department processes a new ISS structure to obtain the best results in terms of efficiency, comfort and wellness aboard. The ISS System takes care of any small details such as light, acoustic and thermal insulation, space optimisation, system standardisation, maintenance accessibility, and freedom of stylistic expression in the design of inner rooms.

Already familiar with this system, when aboard the new 60 Fly to analyse the results on this new model, it was still surprising to discover the pleasant sensations of space and rationality in a very elegant and comfortable environment.

For the engines and the propulsion system, the yard selected Volvo Penta diesel engines with IPS transmission. This choice is the best with relatively small engines to obtain interesting performances and low fuel consumption. The two 533kW diesel engines offer a maximum speed of 31 knots with a cruising speed of 25 as well as high energy efficiency and a remarkable saving in terms of usage and emissions, about 30% less than other 60ft motoryachts.

In addition, the IPS propulsion makes it a very easy way to manage the yacht in a very small area, for example, a port full of boats, thanks to the Volvo Penta joystick that allows the pilot to manage a 60ft yacht like a small open boat. The other advantage offered by the IPS is related to comfort during navigation, because no vibrations are generated by propellers and the exhaust gases are expelled under the water to reduce the smell.

Cruising at higher speeds is safe thanks to the reactivity of the system to change course in case of obstacles, but also thanks to an algorithm developed by Volvo Penta and managed with the yard to find the best trim, at higher rpm the two IPS independently turn less than at lower rpm – meaning the pilot has safe control of the yacht, with no possibility of creating a dangerous situation for people on board.

The hull also in this case was developed by the yard with the participation of Volvo Penta for the best water line and weight balance for the IPS, and the results in this case are very good. The yacht is easy to handle and safe at any speed, the fuel consumption is less than normally recorded on this kind of boat, and it is very comfortable at the cruising speed of 25 knots and also at higher speeds – no noise, no vibration and no smell.

The sea behaviour can also be appreciated on the wakes generated by other vessels, with smooth passage through the wake and perfect behaviour without loss of speed and course.

The Absolute 60 Fly is a very good project realised, as usual for the yard, with the highest standard in terms of quality and materials. This is a very easy-to-manage yacht – perfect for Owners who like to helm their vessel without crew. www.absoluteyachts.com
