THIS BIENNIAL OFFSHORE Category One race is a classic 390nm downwind passage to Sanya, on the island of Hainan in southern China.

The current race record of 25h 54m 33s was set in the 2014 edition of the race by Karl Kwok’s Beau Geste. Sanya is a great finish location for boats intending to continue on to other sailing events around the Asia-Pacific region.

Boats competing in both the Volvo Hong Kong to Hainan Race and Volvo China Coast Regatta will be eligible for the overall Volvo China Coast Race Week 2016 prizes within their division.

The Volvo Hong Kong to Hainan Race 2016 is organised and conducted by the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club (RHKYC) with co-operation with the Bureau of Culture, Broadcast & TV, Publication and Sports of the Sanya Municipal Government with the finish hosted by Serenity Marina in Sanya, Hainan.
