Spain’s transition from dictatorship to democracy in the ’70s gave birth to La Movida Madrileña, an effervescent countercultural art movement that celebrated the country’s newfound sense of freedom. One of the movement’s more notable figures is photographer-artist Ouka Leele, who stood out with her surrealist sense of humour and masterpieces that saw black-and-white photographs painted with vivid watercolours. Leele is Loewe’s latest collaborator, and her 19-artwork series, “Peluqueria” (Hairdresser) can be seen on display at the brand’s Gran Vía Madrid store. Not in the area?
