It’s the most wonderful time of the year, isn’t it? The weather is cooler, everyone’s in a happy mood and you have time to catch up with the extended family at parties. In this Christmas Issue, we’ve rounded up the best of the season: stylish party clothes for the little ones (page 26), presents for everyone from Grandma to grandkid (page 16), and where to go for the best festive treats in town (page 96).

If you’re planning on experiencing a white Christmas, check out page 80 for our picks of child-friendly ski resorts around the world. Or, if you like gifts that give back, our list of social enterprises and companies that support charities (page 84) will make the season more meaningful. But keep in mind the values you’re communicating to Junior with all that spending.

Our feature on the rise of materialistic kids (page 86) will give you pause for thought. Our Baby section is full of must-reads, too, from mums who gave birth in their 40s (page 50) – a hot trend now – to the mamas behind those adorable viral baby dress-up photos (page 44). And don’t miss mummy Victoria Deng’s dramatic account of how she was robbed while on holiday alone with her baby (page 58).

Thankfully, her story has a happy ending, and it sums up parenthood: you never know what life is going to throw at you, but you’re stronger than you think. It’s been our privilege to celebrate Young Parents’ 30th anniversary with you this year, dear readers. Thank you for all your support, and have a wonderful new year!
