Design guru Peter Opsvik revolutionised the world of children’s chairs in the 1970s when he created the Stokke Tripp Trapp chair for his son. Now in 2016, he’s back with the nextgeneration high chair that he designed for his grandson: The award-winning Nomi Highchair.
Available in three interchangeable designs—the Nomi Baby, the Nomi Mini and the Nomi Highchair, this innovative highchair is designed to provide the perfect seating solution for children from the moment they are born. Up to the age of six months, parents can use the Nomi Baby add-on as a recliner. From the age of six to 24 months, you can switch this to the Nomi Mini restrainer, which simply clicks into place under the seat and on the backrest. Then from the age of two, they can move to the Nomi Highchair without any add-ons. Opsvik has worked on numerous design innovations since creating the Tripp Trapp, and the Nomi Highchair features one of them in particular. It now includes a foot rest so that children can climb into the chair on their own and the wheel means that they can glide the chair out from the dining table and seat themselves (something that they couldn’t do with the Tripp Trapp). And, no matter how much your tot wriggles, the large feet on the base of the chair will help keep it stable.
Weighing just 4.9kg, this sleek highchair is made from FSC certified wood and recycled plastic. Winning the Red Dot Award in Product Design in 2014, it scores as high on safety as it does aesthetics.
