Local rock ‘n’ rollers have been visiting Swee Lee for its musical instruments for years, and soon DJ enthusiasts and even cafe-goers will become fans of this music retailer. Swee Lee’s revamped store in Star Vista – located minutes away from The Star Performing Arts Centre where musicians like Michael Bolton, Bon Iver and Twice have performed – not only features a newly diversified product range, but a cafe as well.
Alongside the hundreds of Fender and Gibson guitars lining the store walls are DJ mixers and portable turntables by US brand Numark, music accessories by Mono, a wide range of vinyls, as well as books on music culture. Shoppers can also expect trendy collections of denim jeans, shoes and accessories – because skilled musicians need to look the part, too.
The rustic-style 5,000sqf store features a By Appointment Only room, where visitors can have access to one-of-a-kind instruments, as well as an expanded Swee Lee Music Academy space. Here, you can channel your inner Dave Grohl in classes for guitar, bass and drums led by local musicians. We hear the list of instructors include Aaron from Wolf & The Moon, and guitar maestro Rosli Mansor!
