Singapore’s soon-to-be largest wine club, 67 Pall Mall, is now accepting memberships.
Despite — or perhaps because of — Singapore’s ever-increasing sin tax on alcohol, one drink is becoming increasingly accessible: wine. And we’re not talking supermarket plonk either, but gleaming bottles of appellationdefined, lovingly regarded labels any well-meaning sommelier would be happy to swoon over.
Enter the wine club, a usually plush leather-and-wood establishment where one pays a membership fee to drink alongside fellow vinophiles in an exclusive setting, serviced by a full brigade of staff. The kicker? Most of the bottles are priced close to retail, with even some exclusive allocations thrown in. Here, there’s Park 90 at Regent Hotel Singapore, which launched in 2018, and is open to the public but has a members programme. A similar offering in the works is 67 Pall Mall, the first international outpost of one of London’s hottest wine clubs.
While the club is only set to open in the third quarter of this year, membership is already open, with positions open for a Founding Life Membership — a $100,000 buy-in that gives one equity in the club, along with lifetime membership for yourself and a spouse. That’s a lifetime of access to the club’s 15,000 sq ft penthouse location at the top of Shaw Centre, alongside a lengthy 5000-strong wine list, with — thanks to the magic of copious Coravin use — 1,000 bottles available by the glass. If that isn’t enough cellar-cred, all three of Singapore’s current residing Masters of Wine are involved with the club — curating, and presenting tastings, wine dinners, and even structured classes following the Wine and Spirit Education Trust syllabus.
The club also comes with all the comforts of a boozy home away from home: cellar space for your prized bottles, all-day dining options, and even weekend events that can involve the whole family — and that includes the children.
