Ready your dancing shoes; Singapore International Jazz Festival keeps stage buzzing until 4am.
After having to switch off the proverbial lights at 10.30pm last year and ending the electrifying programmes that got its well-heeled audience dancing away at Marina Bay Sands’ Event Plaza over the course of three days, the Singapore International Jazz Festival (Sing Jazz) is having none of that this year.
To get around regulatory restrictions that prohibit late-night music outdoors, the organisers are taking the entertainment indoors by building a pop-up nightclub capable of housing 4,000 at Sands Expo and Convention Centre, complete with VIP areas and service, a concert-style stage, and state-oftheart sound and light system.
Call it Sing Jazz’s first-everafterparty that goes on until 4am, starring performances by festival favourite Incognito (above), and Grammy winners Al McKay’s Earth, Wind & Fire Experience; super jam sessions by festival musicians; and, in another first, DJ turns from acts such as Brit Award winners Rudimental DJ Set.
Robbie Hoyes-Cock, director of Sing Jazz – The Late Show, has this tip for guests to last the night: “Have a lie-in on the day of the show, drink plenty of champagne and be sure to wear those dancing shoes.” The Late Show presented by the Singapore International Jazz Festival takes place on Friday and Saturday, March 31 and April 1, Sands Expo and Convention Centre, Hall F, Marina Bay Sands.
