The Grand Dame of Marina Bay organises its first classic car show.
Come June 29, the hotel housed in the historic former General Post Office will hold the first ever Concours d’Elegance car show, following the footsteps of other illustrious institutions such as the Villa d’Este museum on the shores of Italy’s Lake Como, and Pebble Beach Golf Links in California’s Monterey Peninsula.
The three-day event celebrates and awards motor vehicles in the best or most original condition. It is one of several planned fetes that will mark the 90th anniversary of the iconic building, the centrepiece of a larger precinct known as The Fullerton Heritage.
On display will be more than 90 cars from the 1920s onwards, including a doorless 1934 Austin Seven Ulster Special, the only right-hand-drive 1958 Porsche 356 A Speedster in South-east Asia, and a Lamborghini Miura previously owned by Don Miura himself. Selected models from the Sultan of Johor’s legendary collection are also expected to make their appearance. At least two new cars will make their regional debut here: the Rolls-Royce Dawn Black Badge and Ferrari Portofino.
