SCENE SHANG
Find contemporary Asianinspired homeware and furniture at Scene Shang’s first brick and mortar store. Its pieces incorporate elements of the Ming dynasty, as well as Western-style influences such as Art Deco. The brand’s latest collection includes a dining set made of marble and ash wood, which made its debut at Maison & Objet this year. Scene Shang also brings in products that echo its design principles, such as glassware from Japanese brand Kinto and Middle Kingdom pottery from China. This Singapore-based design brand offers bespoke statement pieces, which are not only sophisticated, but functional as well. A sideboard with a swivel cocktail shelf, an elegant quartz side table-cum-stool, and a multifunctional coffee table with a white quartz top are part of Ipse Ipsa Ipsum’s first collection, and are available for customisation. We already love the luxurious designer furniture available at Space, but the brand has now launched its own made-in-Italy furniture collection. The SP01 range was conceived in Australia, where the brand is from, and designed by renowned Milanbased award-winning studio Fattorini+Rizzini+Partners. It consists of globally inspired contemporary furniture, and includes sofas, armchairs, dining tables and coffee tables made using solid ash timbers. Local design studio Supermama has officially launched its flagship store. It works closely with traditional craft facilities in Japan to produce omiyage (contemporary giftware) which represent Singapore culture, so look forward to quirky items such as dishes with HDB void-deck chess table motifs, and knick-knacks reminiscent of the iconic dragon-head playground! MAKE ROOM
Carrying a new Dutch furniture brand, HK Living, Make Room has moved into a larger 2,000sqf unit in Tan Boon Liat. The clean North European-style furnishings, which include shelving systems, rugs and small home accessories, also come from Danish brand Madam Stoltz, wall decoration label Ixxi, and local brand Concrete Everything. Do not be intimidated by the fancy shop front – the designer brands in this 7,000sqf showroom are more affordable than you think, says founder Suresh Nandwani. Royal Interiors carries over 180 European designer labels, including Zanotta, Trussardi, and Jab Anstoetz – and each piece in the showroom has been hand-picked for their individuality and artistic value. What’s not in the showroom can be ordered. You will find everything, from candle stands and lamps to leather armchairs. New products are brought in every month, and some of them can be customised.
