Amber, formed from fossilised resin from ancient trees and said to date
back 300 million years, has long been used in folk medicine for its
purported healing properties and powerful preservation abilities.

Yamano, the founder of Kohaku Hada (which means “amber skin” in
Japanese), was first inspired by an amber jewellery exhibition he
attended, where he discovered that amber therapy has been in practice in
Russia for over a century. For more than 10 years, he carried out joint
research with top chemists in Japan to harness the benefits of amber
in skincare, eventually creating the world’s first amber-based skincare
ingredient called Double Amber Blend, a mixture of amber powder and
extract that was granted a double patent in 2012.
Infused with Double
Amber Blend, the Kohaku Hada Facial Cleanser ($15.90 for 140ml) is said
to stimulate the skin’s metabolism and cell proliferation rate, maintain
firmness and elasticity, and cleanse the skin’s surface of toxins.
The
cleanser is also enhanced with AHAs (alphahydroxy acids) to remove
makeup, sebum and even impurities from deep within the pores, softening
the keratin layer of the skin and leaving it clean, clear and
moisturised.
Free of alcohol, parabens, perfume and colourants, this
gentle and effective cleansing formula transforms from a creamy paste
into a thick, cushiony foam upon contact with water, for a pampering
experience.
