Take a playful trip down memory lane in The House on Palmer Road, a children’s book that chronicles the childhood of Sing, an eight-year-old girl living in pre-war Singapore. Her carefree adventures with her nine siblings bring the 1930s vividly to life and is a wonderful way for Grandma (or you) to bond with the kids. It’s written by 83-year-old retired chemistry teacher Si-Hoe S.S. – the real Sing – and her daughter, Sim Ee Waun, a veteran journalist and author of The Little Singapore Book.
