1 DOING CHORES WILL SUCK LESS (BUT BETTER) WITH THIS

GET THIS:

DYSON V11 ABSOLUTE

READY FOR: Those who abhor the mundaneness of household chores and appliances. Let’s face it, they generally suck. They’re not fun to do, require you to get on your hands and knees often enough that leaves a backache, and the tools are cumbersome. Don’t worry lads, we’ve got you covered- meet the Dyson V11 Absolute. The folks at Dyson keep churning out new inerations of vaccum cleaners that make the chore less cumbersome and more of a tech experience. This time they’ve added an LCD screen from the last version, which is perfect for us guys who hate reading manuals, as it shows stats like current performance, remaining run time, and even how to clean the filters and clear blockages, thanks to sensor magnets embedded in the filter assembly. No more searching the storeroom for the manual!

THE BEST PART: We boys like our power, and the Dyson V11 boasts a new digital motor that gives 20% more than the last version. And that really matters, especially when you’ve got carpets in the house, and spill chips on it while watching the Arsenal game. The trouble with the post-mess clean up is we can never seem to get it right, but this gizmo will help you avoid the next mornings “did you spill chips on the sofa and carpet again” rant as it’s high torque cleaner head features stiff nylon bristles that drive deep into carpet to remove ground-in dirt, and anti-static carbon fibre filaments that capture dust from hard floors and crevices. Phew.

COST: $999, available at shop.dyson.com.sg

2 A PERFECT MATCH

GET THIS: MARK & SCRIBE WATCH AND CUFFLINKS CASE

READY FOR: Dudes who travel and bring your best accessories along, as well as need to buy a perfect gift for the other half. In today’s Insta-age we live in, we don’t just pack sloppy sweatshirts and faded tees when we travel anymore; in fact, just the opposite- you gotta look your best in every snap. Now, not saying we approve of this, but it is what it is, and what that means is also bringing along all your fav accessories and trinkets that make your look. Now, of course you can just stuff it all in the front of your carry-on bag, but why risk scratches, or worse, losing any of your precious items because you forgot to zip it up? Here’s an style and life upgrade- get this watch and cufflinks case that does double duty even when you’re not not travelling. And best of all, the company that makes them also does an equivalent cosmetic case for the other half, so you can go all matchy-matchy on both your bedroom and hotel dressing table.

THE BEST PART: The refinement- it’s made with vegan leather and ultra suede lining, and has a elasticized suede pouch for smaller items like cufflinks, tie pins et al. Watch wise it’s got two watch cushions for two tickets, and a removable tray with four compartments so you can separate your rings, necklaces and other hypebeast accessories. And the woman’s cosmetic case is pretty rad too- she can fit her makeup stuff like brushes, lipsticks, lipliners, mascara, eyelines and lash glue.. plus all the other stuff we see in her handbag in a mess but can’t identify. What we loved best on Mark & Scribe’s site- the ability to personalise by adding initials and letters! How hype is that!

COST: $130, available at www.markandscribe.com

4 PERFECT KICKS FOR YOUR VACAY K C KS CAY

GET THIS: ONITSUKA TIGER HORIZONIA N NIA

READY FOR: Those long n holidays where you’ll be walking around a lot. You know what we’re talking about- it’s either where you’ve got long queues waiting to get into museums, or shopping expeditions that bust your 10,000 step quota easily. Onitsuka Tiger’s latest offering, the Tiger Horizonia, is really one of the most stylish and versatile sneaker we’ve seen this spring/ summer season in the marketplace. Available in three colourways, the TIGER HORIZONIA brings back Onitsuka Tiger’s trail running shoe design from the company archives and gives it a modern twist with a chunky silhouette.

THE BEST PART: Elements of  classic trail running shoes can be found throughout the Tiger Horizonia. The outer sole of the shoe incorporates elements of trail running shoes designed for running on unpaved surfaces. The rolled-up sole improves toe durability and the upper combines mesh, suede and man-made leather. A Fuzegel midsole heel improves lightness and shock absorbency, and the Ortholite inner sole lends better fit and comfort. And that really matters because while we love the traditional Tigers one of our main gripes is how little impact they absorbed, which gave us aching feet at the end of the day!

COST: $129, available at Onitsuka Tiger Takashimaya Shopping Centre, and Onitsuka Tiger Suntec City.

5 UPGRADE YOUR GAMING THRONE

GET THIS: VERTAGEAR PL6000

READY FOR: Gaming bros who spend long hours on their Playstations. Or, for that matter, dudes who work from home. Chairs matter- you’ll want to be in something that doesn’t hurt your back or posture, given the long hours you stay in them. We quite like the Vertagear PL6000, which is designed for comfort and equipped with superior ergonomic features.

THE BEST PART: The industrial strength, extra padded gaming chair provides greater support and durability for your entire frame and head. It’s seriously comfortable, especially if you’re a bigger guy. The large frame paired with high-density foam makes the chair firm but cushy, and the adjustable armrests and backrest means you’ll be able to find the perfect position for those long hours gaming over the weekend. The additional neck and lumbar pillows are a nice bonus and provide good support to those areas. However, we suggest leaving the lumbar pillow in place once it’s been adjusted. Its adjustable straps loop around the backrest and can slide off if you’re constantly moving it.

COST: $559, at www.banleong.com

8 TRY A DIFFERENT GALAXY

GET THIS: SAMSUNG GALAXY S10+, WATCH ACTIVE & GALAXY BUDS

READY FOR: A gadget and smartphone upgrade. If recontract time is around the corner, you might want to consider Samsung’s latest ineration of their Galaxy line- the Galaxy S10+, the Watch Active & Buds.  Sure, the folding phone might be the one getting all the news right now, but if you’re not one of those die-hards for new gadgets, the S10+ is really one of the better offerings in the market now, with a stunning display, great camera performance, a clean new user interface, and the most powerful processor Samsung has made in years, essentially combining the best from a decade of Galaxy S series.

THE BEST PART: You can literally join Samsung’s galaxy by getting their watch and earbuds for the whole 360 experience- and they’re really good as workout buddies! The Galaxy Watch Active is the latest version of Samsung’s flagship Galaxy Watch smartwatch, and it can now monitor your blood pressure, a first for a Samsung wearable. And you can pair them with the Galaxy Buds if you want to go jogging with music, but phone free! We particularly like the Buds as the bass on them is really quite decent, thanks to their partnership with acoustic specialists AKG.

COST: $1,398 for the Galaxy S10+, $368 for the Watch Active, and $238 for the Buds at www.samsung.com

9 DRINK, AND KNOW THINGS

GET THIS: THE GAME OF THRONES SINGLE MALTS COLLECTION

READY FOR: A satisfying sip when the final episode finally ends, and you can get back to your normal life. And you can also toast to either Jon Snow or Daenerys sitting on the Iron Throne (we’re writing this a month ahead, so if our guess goes wrong, don’t blame us!) So, in the words of Tyrion Lannister, “I drink and I know things,” we’ve partook in the Single Malts Collection, and while taste-wise some of the whiskies are hit and miss, as a whole, this collection is worth the calories.

THE BEST PART: Our votes on the House Lannister bottle- it’s a Lagavulin 9 year old. If a Lannister always pays his debts, maybe ask for it in Lagavulin, one of the best smokey whiskeys you can find from Islay. That explosive smoke pairs well with the medieval show,  and we loved the, banana and vanilla flavor that ends with a caramel finish. Pity about how it turned out for Cersei (we’re guessing again!). Oh, and going back to the best part- there’s eight more other whiskeys in the collection to work through as you rewatch the rest of the seasons during your Netflix and chill sessions!

COST: The entire collection of eight retails at $783.50.
