Four-bedroom condominium in Orchard

SIZE

2,500sqf

Home to a family of three — a couple and their young son — the design of this four-bedroom condominium apartment is inspired by the classical English style.

Having worked with the couple on their previous home, Carine understood the requirements of her clients immediately. To achieve the desired look, a mostly white palette was chosen for the home. Vinyl wood-look high-end resilient flooring adds warmth throughout.

The kitchen is divided into two sections — the dry and wet kitchen — to prevent the fumes and smells from heavy cooking from entering the rest of the living spaces. White spray-painted timber louvre windows help frame the space, while visually connecting the kitchen with the rest of the home.

To add interest and colour, handmade terrazzo Peranakan floor tiles from GF+A were used in the open-concept dry kitchen, which sits adjacent to the dining room. Extra seating is built next to the window, making it the perfect spot for entertaining guests.

In the living room, Carine made space for the homeownersʼ extensive book collection by building full-height cabinets and display shelves, incorporating the design of a TV console within. A hexagonal patchwork patterned rug adds a quirky touch to this relaxing corner.

One of the biggest design challenges in the home was to give the master bathroom a spacious look, and this was achieved by hacking walls. Now cladded completely in marble, the intimate space sports a refined and luxurious vibe. There are even double sinks on a full-length marble countertop!

The clever space planning and choice of colours here have allowed the family more freedom and versatility when selecting furniture for their new home, as they can now mix and match colours easily against a clean, white backdrop.
