Moe kindergartens

Did you know that there are now 15 kindergartens operated by the Ministry of Education (MOE)? Of these, 12 are located in primary schools. This close relationship supports your child’s transition from K2 to Primary 1. Twelve of its centres also offer kindergarten care for parents who require full-day services for children.

One of its flagship programmes is Hi-Light, which helps kids make meaningful connections across six learning areas: aesthetics and creative expression, discovery of the world, language and literacy, motor skills development, numeracy, and social and emotional development. Another flagship programme, Starlight Literacy, is offered in English and three Mother Tongue Languages to foster bilingualism.

It uses resources such as big books, and songs and games set in a local context to make language-learning fun. In addition, children experience the joy of self-motivated learning as they investigate topics of their interest and find answers to their questions through Weeks of Wonder (Wow) projects at the end of every term. Teachers work closely with MOE curriculum specialists to hone their craft and ensure learning objectives of curriculum are met.

The british council

English enrichment is what The British Council is well known for and here’s why. At nursery level, the focus is on confidence building, socialisation, phonics and language/literacy skills. At the kindergarten level, children will develop comprehension and writing skills, and become independent readers. They will also expand writing skills from sentences to short paragraphs in preparation for P1.

Classes for those in primary school are interactive, communicative and carefully structured for progress. The unique and effective teaching methods deliver the learning outcomes of the MOE English curriculum. Book a free trial class at any of its five centres – Napier Road, Marsiling, Tampines, Toa Payoh and Katong.

Kip mcgrath

Looking for a tutor for your child? Kip McGrath has been helping primary and secondary school-age children to improve or extend their learning since 1976. The brand has over 500 centres globally, with 21 in Singapore. It believes all kids can reach their full potential with the right support and helps its students build their confidence and self-esteem.

It offers a free assessment, which allows you and your child to experience the centre before committing to the service. The assessment tests your child’s maths and English skills, and identifies areas that can be improved on. The results are discussed with you and if you choose to enrol your kid, a specially tailored programme can be created to suit his level.
