LOVE YOURSELF
“Being bold and beautiful means loving everything about yourself, even your flaws. Know your strengths and weaknesses, speak your mind while having the patience to listen to others, and go after your dreams!”- Annie (left) and Maggie

Known for its quirky product names and attention-grabbing advertising campaigns, it’s no surprise that Benefit Cosmetics’ tagline is “laughter is the best cosmetic”. All things playful are part of the DNA of this San Francisco-based beauty brand.

So is empowering women to have fun and feel good about themselves. The brand is represented by Global Beauty Authorities Annie and Maggie Ford Danielson, daughters of Jean Ford and nieces of Jane Ford, the co-founders.

They believe that women are at the most gorgeous when they feel strong and confident, so we get up close and personal with them to find out their tips to feeling bold and looking beautiful.

ADD COLOUR

“Turn heads with our favourite makeup look: first define your brows with Gimme Brow, then amp up your lashes with They’re Real Beyond Mascara, and add a soft, flirty hint of colour to your cheeks and lips with Benetint.  There is no product in the world that can transform the way a woman looks and feels about herself like Gimme Brow. The brush-on brow gel is a must-have in your beauty arsenal.”

INVEST IN HEELS

“If there’s just one fashion item every woman should own to feel gorgeous and confident, it’s definitely a kick-ass pair of high heels. Your favourite pair of high heels can make a big difference in how you walk.”

FLAUNT YOUR ASSETS

“Know your best assets and make the most of them. You want to dress to impress yourself first, not everyone else. For instance, if you’re gunning for a job, dress for the job you want, not the one you have; it will change the way you present yourself.”

BEAUTY GIVES BACK

What you need to know about the Bold Is Beautiful campaign This May, Benefit Cosmetics rolls out its Bold Is Beautiful campaign, where all proceeds from brow waxing services at Benefit Brow Bar counters will go to helping two local charities: Girls2Pioneers and Aidha. Girls2Pioneers organises day camps for young girls that cultivate skills across various fields including technology and engineering, while Aidha provides business, computer and communication classes for domestic helpers. The initiative, which has already been brought to seven other countries, raised almost US$3 million last year worldwide.

“We decided to take the idea of female empowerment beyond the beauty counter to women and girls who need help in reaching their full potential,” explain Global Beauty Authorities Annie and Maggie Ford Danielson.

For the Singapore campaign, Benefit Cosmetics roped several local women as ambassadors, including actress Oon Shu An and social media influencer Christabel Chua. Visit a Benefit Brow Bar in May and do your part in helping girls and women in Singapore achieve their dreams! It’s a win-win situation! Visit www.boldisbeautiful.com/ sg for more information.
