FANTASTIC WRITE-UP

NG YANG YEE

I’d like to commend Mr Christopher Tan on his “Bitumen Betterment” article [Torque 2017 April issue]. Very insightful, sharp observations. Hope the LTA is reading it.

I didn’t know that the Road Opening Coordination Committee exists – one can’t tell by looking at the sorry state of our roads.

Potholes, worn road surface markings, badly planned temporary road diversions... These pose a danger to all road users. Many road signs are now covered by the foliage – a situation normally found in other countries.

Torque (Christopher Tan)

Thanks for your e-mail. It is clear to every road user that our road quality has deteriorated over the years, yet the LTA can say with a straight face that all is well.

GOT JOB?

MATT WEE

Are there any job openings in the Torque magazine team? I have had an avid interest in cars since I was a young boy, and my interest has only grown over the years, especially for German cars. As expected of a petrolhead, I made dedicated visits to BMW Welt, as well as the Audi and Mercedes museums, when I was in Germany for a holiday. I’m open to different job scopes (I finished a two-week stint at the Singapore Motorshow 2017) and I’m also semi-proficient in German as a third language.

Thanks for your enquiry. Currently, the Torque editorial engine is firing on all cylinders, and we do not require an additional cylinder/ writer in the team. But we’ll keep your resume on file.

QUESTION “MARK”

KEITH SEETOH

Hi, I would like to check if Torque ran any reviews of the Toyota Mark X in any of your past issues? Thanks!

Torque

Yes, we did. Our 2014 September issue tested the Mark X 250G, with the reviewer describing it as “a mutant super saloon that combines the powers of the Lexus GS250 and Toyota Camry”. Please send an e-mail to our circulation department (circs@sph.com.sg) if you wish to purchase the back issue in question.

OUR QUALITY IS GOOD

SEAN ANG

I feel that Torque Singapore is a great place for car enthusiasts to catch up on car news, whether it’s your Facebook page or within the magazine. I also like the giveaways done on a regular basis. Keep up the good quality!

Thanks for the positive comments.

DATA CRUNCH

CHIKA ISHIKAWA

Before I subscribe online, I have a question: In the magazine, can I see data about registration numbers in Singapore by model and month? For example, Mercedes- Benz E-Class, BMW 5 Series and Porsche 911 in January 2017.

Torque

Thanks for your intention to subscribe. Singapore’s Land Transport Authority (LTA) may have the registration data by model, but it isn’t made available to consumers, companies and the media. However, general registration data can be found on the LTA website (www.lta.gov.sg) under Motor Vehicles-Vehicle Registration-New Registration By Make.
